Welcome to the heat of summer
At least it has been in Queenstown (26 degrees), and probably more so in the office - and everything, windows, doors, is open - wide open.
Not that I am complaining - it is great.
The chance to plan ahead knowing the weather is good, and get out and about on some of the great backcountry around Queenstown. With landowner permission we have been re-exploring the tops of mountains as far afield as Clyde and Alexandra, and along high ridgelines.
The Skyline gondola is reporting fantastic riding with large numbers and we hear of other groups riding in remote valleys all over the south.
And during the week we have been enjoying the road bike, on the Tuesday night ride and the Weds World's.
While at work the focus has been on the events on the near horizon - the Fresh Choice Womens Bike Run Tri (3rd March), and then mostly working on the Queenstown Bike Festival (30th March - 9th April)
During this 10 day Festival we look forward to showing you the best Queenstown has to offer - be it in the popular New World Tour de Wakatipu which traverses the basin and has unique access through private farmland to finish at Chard Farm winery, or the fantastic trails in the Queenstown Bike Park during the Speights Summit Super D Enduro, or the DirtMasters Downhill.
