THE NORTH FACE PEAK TO PEAK LEADING EDGE WINTER MULTISPORT RACE

 
Next year's event date: 25th July 2009

The Concept
An event to link the two ski mountains in Queenstown.

Individuals and teams of two to five people race by ski/ snowboard, mountain bike, kayak, foot and road bike from the top of the Remarkables Ski Area to Coronet Peak.

The courses encompasses snow covered mountains, steep gravelled and tarmac ski field access roads, State Highways and tarmac rural roads, QLDC Reserve, public walking / cycling tracks, and Lakes Wakatipu and Hayes.
The events will generally be held in all conditions.

Divisions for:
Individuals: Men / Women - Open or Vet

Teams: Open / Business / Vet

The Race
Stage 1: Ski/Board 2km
High on the Remarkables Ski Area. A mass start – run down to skis. Actual start determined by snow cover

Stage 2: Mtn Bike 17km
Down Remarkables road to Frankton Beach

Stage 3: Paddle 7km
Frankton Beach to Queenstown Bay

Stage 4: Run 9km
From Queenstown Beach, through town and out to Coronet Alpine Hotel

Stage 5: Bike 9km
From Coronet Alpine Hotel to the finish at the Coronet Peak Ski Area base

Registration / Race Briefing / Prize Giving:
Registration at R & R Queenstown from 6.00pm Friday 24th for bib collection and race pack.
For those from out of town it is also available at Remarkables Ski Area from 10.30am on the 25th July.
Race briefing at 11.15am at the Remarkables ski Field on the 25th July also.
Prize giving at Coronet Peak.

Trophies for: 1st Individual Male, 1st Individual Female, 1st Vet Male, 1st Open Team, and 1st Vet Team. Prizes for place getters and spot prizes.

How to Enter:
Complete the entry form ( to be available at a later date) and return with entry fee to:
Peak to Peak, P.O. Box 410, Queenstown.

Entry fee
Individual: $50.00 ($60 entry on the day)
Team: $100.00 ($120 entry on the day)
Confirmation of entry and a full briefing sheet will be sent on to email address only

Information and Rules:
Ski: Competitors must arrange for ski equipment to be brought down off the Remarkables
Kayak: Kayaks may be dropped at Frankton Beach, with security from 9.30am. Life jackets must be worn on paddle section. Boats must have buoyancy installed. Helmets not required
Bike: Any bike may be used for Stage 5 up to Coronet Peak
Bibs: Non return of bibs will incur a $30 charge
Support Crew: Limited to 2 cars per individual/team. Snow chains recommended. NO Stopping on highways to assist/watch competitors, and restricted stopping (only in Chain Bays) on Coronet Peak access road. Please drive with care and safety at all times

Waiver:
All entrants will must sign a waiver which declares
1. We agree to comply with the rules and event instructions of the element Peak to Peak and enter at our own risk
2. We agree any photographs/ videos taken may be used for media and promotional purposes
3. We agree to the event organiser collecting the personal data provided above, retaining and using these details for the purpose of event administration and notification of future similar events (given in accordance of the Privacy Act 1993).
