2012 EVENT, 8th December 2012 |
| |
8hrs@Jack’s
The 8hrs@Jack’s was born out of the idea of having a fun relay type mountain bike event set in the environments of Jacks Point.
A 8kms loop multi lap relay mountain bike event, it is inspired by other 12hrs non stop bike events, but made achievable to suit riders of all abilities, while still retaining the highly social side of this type of endurance races.
Riders enjoy a scenic and challenging track, purposedly designed and created by Geoff Hunt.
The course is now known as the stragglers loop, a fun challenging yet enjoyable bike course meandering through the rocky valleys and terrain on the northern side of the Jack Point's development.
The way it works is very simple: as competitors arrive at the start of the race, they are allocated a space which will become their pit stop. The course is designed to meander through this "village" hence created - in fact a series of competitors pit stop along the course where any type of support is encouraged, including tents, supplies of cold beer and the odd couch!
The race starts and finishes at the village area, and competitors, as individuals or in a team relay, try to complete as many full course laps as possible. Being a social event, competitors can stop before the full 8hrs are up, or go and try to break the record - 16 laps to this date.
Within a team, there is no order or a compulsory number of laps to do for each competitors.
The highest number of full laps completed in the shortest time determines the winners.
