The Course (in detail)
The start and registration and coffee shop will be at the 'Cricket Ground', corner of Lake Hayes and Malaghan Road.

We will pass under the start banners and ride along parallel to Malaghan Rd inside the fence on the grass, turn left at the Millbrook gate and ride down through the avenue of trees and right into a road leading to West Millbrook.
Once the lead car with flashing lights reaches 'industrial Millbrook' it will pull aside to let the race begin.

A left turn followied by a slight climb through a ‘chicane’ and across the carpet - to protect the grass.

Onto a single lane downhill track with tricky tightening corners. You will use the brakes but not technical. A SLOW sign means just that - slow down.

Across Speargrass Flat Road - controlled by a STOP GO for the cars and along 50 metres or so on Speargrass Rd and then a very gradual climb up Slopehill Rd and down the other side.

Elite and Sport Riders turn left and go down Rutherford Road, then go around Lake Hayes clockwise, before coming back up Rutherford Road to rejoin Slopehill Rd.

A sharp left turn onto Lower Shotover Rd and right into Domain Rd, then left onto a 'single track' downhill onto the trail along the Shotover River before a steepish climb up onto the old bridge.

Off the bridge a track cut through willows and broom leads onto the wide gravel roads of the Shotover delta - followed by 300metres of single track along the banks of the Kawarau River.

A small climb up a farm road and then a track along the outside of a deer fence, through a paddock a short section of Remarkables Park subdivision, a path then leads to the kindergarten, Robertson Street and the ‘NEUTRAL ZONE’

Across the State Highway (Cross highway under the control of the Southern Safety marshals only.) and down to the Kawarau Bridge.

Ride the footpath and then cross back to the left hand side of the road - still under NEUTRAL. A kilometer of highway riding till directed into the paddocks, and then on to Boyd Road and so by farm roads all the way to the finish at Chard Farm.

‘NEUTRAL ZONE’ - no passing at all during this stage. Maintain single file. Cross highway under the control of the Southern Safety marshals only. Any riders crossing uncontrolled will be disqualified.

Direction arrows - all changes of direction have a arrow or marshall

The Finish
The finish arch is ‘ceremonial’ only. The actual timed finish will be about 20metres before you cross under the arch. This gives you time to slow down for a very hard right hand turn on loose gravel, and then drift across the finish line to stop and take off those transponders.
