Macpac 24hrs of Southern Traverse Since 1991, the Southern Traverse, New Zealand’s Icon Adventure race, has pitched men and women against nature in one of the most spectacular countries in the world.
Following this lead, the 24hours of Southern Traverse is born in 2006 out of the idea of having a short, fun, yet challenging version of the southern traverse in our own backyard.
Set in the unique outdoor playground that is Queenstown, the non stop race showcases the dramatic mountain peaks, deep valleys and fast flowing rivers of the Wakatipu. The race lasts up to 24 hours, and is kept under wrap till the eve of the race itself.
Enjoy the magic
While some teams race to win, others enjoy the amicable rivalry and good times with friends. The secret course consists of 150kms of Wakatipu back country over several stages. Cut off times and alternative courses will ensure everyone has the opportunity to race to the finish line.
